Wat Phra That Sri Chom Thong    Phra That Sri Chom Thong Woraviharn, formerly named Wat Phra That Sri Chom Thong, is located on Chiang Mai-Hod Road, Moo 2, Tambon Ban Luang, Amphoe Chomg Thong, Chiang Mai Province. The Phra that is the patron stupa of the year of rat. It is 58 km from Chiang Mai city. It was nominated a third-class royal temple of the Woraviharn type in 1963. The temple was founded on a 10-metre soil hill long called Doi Chom Thong. As history goes, it was assumed that Wat Phra that Sri Chom Thong was built around the thirteenth century to house the relics from the right part of the head of Buddha. The relics have the size of jujube seeds. Their contours are round and even. Their colour is a off-white shade like that of dried Medlar flowers. In addition, it is worth noting the components of arts found on major buildings in the temple. For example, the traditional ordination hall has a tympanum which was beautifully gilded with gold leaf. The tipitaka hall is a two-story building used for storing the Buddhist scriptures. The minor chedi (Phra that Noi) was built to pair with the major chedi and create balance. It contains a number of sacred matters, though not the Buddha relics. Lastly, there is Phra Jaturamuk, in which the mandapa carrying the relics was located. These works are the arts of the post nineteenth century which saw the era of restoration in the city of Chiang Mai. Wat Phra that Sri Chom Thong is thus a destination for those who are keen on the studies of traditional art in ancient Chiang Mai.                The temple is also home to the meditation centre founded in 1991 by Phra Dhammungkalajarn Vi (Phra Ajarn Thong Sirimungkalo). The centre is located in the monastery and takes up to two-third of the temple area. It welcomes a large number of those who wish to practice meditation either in person or in group. An emotion test is held daily excluding Buddhist Sabbaths. The centre is also a school for numerous meditation coaches called Vipassanajarn, who consequently travel to spread the practice.    Wat Phra that Sri Chom Thong was declared a national heritage on the Government Gazette.
