Hat Cha-am

The premier beach resort of Phetchaburi, Hat Cha-am is just as beautiful as the neighboring Hua Hin Beach. Located approximately 163 kilometers south of Bangkok, 40 kilometers south of Phetchaburi and 20 kilometers north of Hua Hin, the beach is famous for being long and clean. In addition, it serves excellent fresh seafood. Originally a fishing village, Cha-am received much attention after the royal palace, Maruekhathaiyawan, was built near Hua Hin in the reign of King Rama VI. At that time, the Royal Family and the elite occupied the land in Hua Hin and its vicinity as a holiday seaside resort. When people started looking around for twin seaside resort town for Hua Hin, Cha-ams beauty was discovered and quickly developed.Today, Cha-am is a popular lively resort town offering a large variety of accommodations and challenging activities. Boredom is rare in Cha-am as there are a variety of water sports that can be enjoyed, while a possible alternative to water sports is bicycle riding along a 6-kilometer sandy white beach. Raruk Hua Hin

One of the must-see tourist attractions in Hua Hin is “Raruk Hua Hin” whose name could make you imagine how the atmosphere of this place is like in many ways even before you physically go there. The ancient term รฤก (pronounced ra-roek) shares similar meaning to the modern and commonly used terms ระรึก (ra-ruk) or ระลึก (ra-luk). Located right in the heart of the city, Raruk Hua Hin is popular among shoppers and food lovers because there is an abundance of retail shops and restaurants offering savories, sweets and drinks. In addition to food, visitors can buy lovely souvenirs in reasonable prices and elaborate handmade crafts whose quality beyond their prices. The interior decoration of Raruk Hua Hin is exquisitely ornamented, making the place ideal for professional and amateur photographers to try out lenses in their collection because the perfect combination of contemporary arts must be very tempting to fire the camara’s shutter at intermittently. Formerly Raruk Huahin was an empty piece of land on Naeb Khehart Road with one old wooden house standing in the middle. The 2-storey wooden house was built during the reign of King Rama VI and ages more than 100 years old. The house owner, who is a Hua Hin local, had an inspiration to preserve this house, so that younger generations can have an opportunity to see the ancient architecture. After the house renovation completed, the owner decided to displays rare photos of Hua Hin in the old days and lifestyle of people in the community of Hua Hin. It can be stated that this old wooden house is the highlight of Raruk Hua Hin. Furthermore, other interesting artifacts include a model of a lighthouse and a statue of an angler fighting with a big fish, which reflects that Hua Hin was a fishing village. Previously this statue was located in front of the Shrine of Tabtim Goddess. Hua Hin Night Market

It has become a so-called travelling tradition for Hua Hin visitors to enjoy the sea and other outdoor activities by day and roam Hua Hin night market by night. The walking street of Hua Hin night market is closed entirely to traffic and becomes the focal point for vending stalls, particularly consumer goods and souvenirs. Therefore, when taking a stroll through the night market and shopping some small gifts, visitors can scent the tantalizing aroma of grilled seafood. Hua Hin night market is located where Decha Nuchit Road and the well-known Phet Kasem Road cross. Even though the foods sold here can be found elsewhere, but the distinguished flavors are second to none. The abundant varieties of food choice make it hard to decide which one you would try first. Additionally, clothes, accessories, cassette tapes, CDs, books and lovely souvenirs can be found. Despite the tremendous number, all shops and stalls are always crowded with Thai and foreign customers – waiting for food, eating, or shopping. At a quick glance this place may seem like an ordinary night market, but once you have been here, you just cannot help but visiting it again the next time you are in Hua Hin. The warmth and the unique characteristics of Hua Hin that fill this night market make no other place comparable.  Every evening shopkeepers start setting up their stalls at around 6 and most of them are ready just before 7. At midnight when shops gradually close, it is yet likely to see crowds of people roaming Hua Hin.

The first is Highway No. 35 (Thon Buri-Pak Tho) passing Samut Sakhon and Samut Songkhram Provinces and then turn left to Highway No. 4 to Hua Hin which takes approximately 2 hours. Alternatively, it is possible to use Phuttamonthon Road via Nakhon Pathom, Ratchaburi and Petchburi Provinces which takes about 3 hours. Visitors can also take 2nd class (air-conditioned) which stops to pick up passengers along the way as well.
